Current owners Holly and Jamie Riordan are continuing the tradition of a working farm established in this location by the Freeman family in 1818 and represent only the fourth family to own and operate the farm since its creation. Livestock, including cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, and horses have been a continuous part of the farm’s history.

With long term experience in historic preservation, the owners are committed to restoring this small part of the Island’s past so that visitors may experience one of the very few “saltwater” farms remaining on MDI.

Holly Riordan has had a lifelong love of horses, beginning at age six during summer camp. Holly currently oversees barn operations as well as the farm’s commercial flower garden. Jamie Riordan manages the farm. Originally Maryland residents, the Riordans’ family has lived in Pretty Marsh since 1988; the Riordans moved to Maine permanently in 2017.
