ABOUT

Current owners Holly and Jamie Riordan founded Whistle Pig Farm in 2017 on Mount Desert Island, where they continued the tradition of a working farm established in that location by the Freeman family in 1818.
The farm's 2025 relocation to Alna began a new and exciting chapter at an existing horse farm in an historic, year-round community easily accessible from both Portland and Augusta.
Holly Riordan has had a lifelong love of horses, beginning at age six during summer camp. Holly currently oversees barn operations as well as the farm’s commercial flower garden. Jamie Riordan manages the farm. Originally Maryland residents, the Riordans moved to Maine permanently in 2017.
Whistle Pig Animal Welfare Service Corporation (d/b/a Whistle Pig Farm) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit entity dedicated to education, equine rescue, rehabilitation, and placement to qualified homes. The farm is a Maine State licensed animal shelter. “Whistle Pig” is another common name for the ground hog or woodchuck.
